'Warning to Arsenal' - National media react to Tottenham's victory over Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur secured an emphatic 4-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night to boost confidence ahead of the North London Derby on January 15

Tottenham got back to winning ways on Wednesday night in impressive fashion, securing a 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Harry Kane was again on the scoresheet, netting two goals just after half-time before Matt Doherty and Son Heung-Min chipped in after the hour mark. The result means Spurs are now just two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the current Premier League standings, although the Red Devils have played one game less than the north Londoners.

With that said, here's a look at how the national media reacted to the Lillywhites' crucial win.

The Mirror

Tottenham's main man Kane was of course singled out for praise by the Mirror, who also labeled the win as "a warning to Arsenal", after the prolific Englishman netted his 14th and 15th goals of the season. The fans' frustrations at chairman Daniel Levy were also mentioned, something which The Mirror described as harsh.

"Even after Kane’s brace and Matt Doherty’s strike the away fans still responded by chanting for Levy to go. It was harsh on the Spurs supremo who backed Antonio Conte with £ 50 million Richarlison last summer, along with £ 25 million Yves Bissouma to go with Croatian Serie A winner Ivan Perisic and keeper Fraser Forster.

The Guardian

The Guardian's post-match report also heaped praise on center-forward Kane, who was undoubtedly the best player on the night, hailing him as: "The complete striker." Young playmaker Bryan Gil was also singled out for his solid display, as well as veteran goalkeeper Hugo Lloris - who registered a much-needed clean sheet for Antonio Conte's side.

"There was an invention from the lesser-spotted Bryan Gil, who collected an assist, and some excellent saves from Hugo Lloris."

The Telegraph

The Telegraph made sure to mention the return to form of Son, who shared last season's Premier League golden boot with Liverpool frontman Mohamed Salah.

"It had been six games and nine hours without a goal for the South Korean since his facial injury, including his own chastening World Cup.

"After scoring his side’s fourth he hurled the black mask to the floor and showed his unadorned face to the traveling fans, delighted with his goal, delighted to be free of a burden."

Next up for Spurs is a third-round FA Cup clash at home to Portsmouth on Saturday before they host north London rivals Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the following Sunday.
